The Mining Laboratory is structurally a part of the Underground Structures Construction and Mining Technologies Center.

MAIN SCIENTIFIC DIRECTIONS:
  • Technical and economic assessment of ore processing and preparation of business plans; 
  • Improvement of design methods for opening and development of sheet and vein type deposits;
  • Research and development of a technology for mining deep levels of thick coal seams under difficult mining and geological conditions;
  • Development of methods for complex utilization of manganese deposits;
  • Development of technologies for remining of Chiatura manganese fields;
  • Development of open-pit mining and open-pits recultivation projects;
  • Thermophysical calculation of underground constructions;
  • Aerology of natural and manmade underground spaces;
  • Design of heat regime and ventilation of transport tunnels;
  • Determination of the aerodynamics of karst caves and allowable cave personnel by minimizing the anthropological impact;
  • Emergency management and risk assessment in underground structures;
  • Study of hydraulic silting materials and technology for their transportation;
  • Development and research of abrasive pulp's pumping means;
  • Research and improvement of the performance characteristics of technological hydrotransport systems;
  • Investigation of the operating regimes of multi-step hydrotransport systems of waste of ferrous and nonferrous ores enrichment.
