Rope Systems Laboratory

.
Head of Laboratory - PhD Giorgi Nozadze
.
The Rope Systems Laboratory is structurally included in the Underground Structures Construction and Mining Technologies Center.
The development of the scientific field of ropeways and systems in Georgia is closely tconnected with the history of the establishment of the Institute. The scientific laboratory with the mentioned profile has been operating at the Institute since 1957.
The main directions of research in the laboratory is determined by the profile of the Mining Institute and included the issues of developing and improving new models of ropeway transport systems necessary for the mining industry.
MAIN SCIENTIFIC DIRECTIONS:
- Development and analysis of new ropeway systems;
- Development and improvement of methods for continuous control of rope systems;
- Use of new materials in rope construction to increase their operating resources and technical characteristics;
- Large-scale ceiling using rope systems;
- Lightweight portable rope systems and structures;
- Alternative energy transport systems;
- Rope systems in bank protection structures;
- Сomposite rope-rod systems;
- Use of modern software in designing and calculating complex rope systems.
MATERIAL-TECHNICAL BASE:
The laboratory is equipped with a test bench for rope systems, modern laser, electric and magnetic measuring devices:
TRUPULSE360 laser rangefinder, Fluke - multifunction multimeter
range 1 km for electrom measurements
