On June 15-17, 2010 the 9th
WORLD WIND ENERGY CONFERENCE & RENEWABLE ENERGY EXHIBITION
(WWEC2010) "LARGE-SCALE INTEGRATION OF WIND POWER” was held
in Istanbul, Turkey. The conference was organized by WWEA
(The World Wind Energy Association) and EUROSOLAR (The
European Association for Renewable Energy) Turkey. In
conference the scientist from G.Tsulukidze Mining Institute
Dr. T.Pkhovelishvili took part with poster presentation "The
Wind Underground Power Station".

Development’s (USAID) Energy Capacity Initiative (ECI)
is a project designed to enhance Georgia’s energy security.
ECI has launched its grants program, which will address
important energy sector issues. Priority areas of grant
programme intervention are: improvement of living conditions
for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and for people
living in remote areas, such as high mountains, energy
efficiency, energy safety and security, partnership with GoG,
energy companies and utilities, regional cooperation,
development of renewable energy (wind/solar), improvement of

Gurchumelia took part.

powders based on mineral raw materials".

The 1 June 2009 issue of NATO
in Georgia, which is a supplement to the 24 Saati (24 Hour)
newspaper published information on the project SfP 980981,
implemented within the framework of NATOs programme
“Science for Peace and Security”. The project is implemented
by the Georgian Mining Institute (Tbilisi) and the
University of Florida (USA), An interview with the Project
Coordinator, Dr. E. Mataradze was organized by the Georgian
Information Centre on NATO (www.natoinfo.ge).
Dr E. Mataradze briefs the
readers on the promising results of the collaboration of
Georgian scientists within the frameworks of NATO’s
programme “Science for Peace and Security”.
It is noted that the project
enabled to equip the experimental base of the Mining
Institute with modern equipment and computer facilities,
establish scientific contacts with foreign colleagues and
send young researchers abroad for training. The research,
which aims at designing a new system for protecting people
from explosions as envisaged by the project, is now in
progress. The Georgian National Fund for Science has also
committed funds to complement the work supported by the NATO
programme for science. |
